The Lavagem da 46 Rua or
Cleansing of 46th street in 2009, much bigger and highly
acclaimed, will feature 2009 Grand Marshal Carlinhos Brown
The festivities will commence at 10 am on the corner of 6th avenue
and 46th Street with lots of music and dance, the
parade will then proceed east along Little Brazil
46th Streetto the sounds of the agogos and timbaus which
are some of the main instruments used to accompany the
singer/model/dancer Luanda as she sings the official song
of The Lavagem “Aqui Estou” in the mix of Afoxe rhythm.
In accompaniment are dignitaries, sponsors, celebrities,
musicians, dancers, followers of the Brazilian culture, also national and international media.
This opening event of the Brazilian Day will bring
several attractions to the stage to be located on 46th
Street between Madison and 5th Avenue. The audience will
be introduced to dignitaries, sponsors and representatives
who made the event possible.
Then the stage will be opened to Brazilian bands,
featuring world renowned artists and local artists, samba
dancers, the exciting 2nd annual pageant “Muse of
Brazilian Day,” in which the audience will be the judges
and games involving crowd participation.
